In April, the 4 and 5 year old children went on a walking field trip to Butt’s Florist. We saw many beautiful colors of flowers. We learned what plants and flowers need to grow.
Each type of flower has it’s own name. Every child and adult received a carnation to take home. It was a good learning experience.
When we returned to the classroom the teachers set up a florist shop with soil, tools for gardening and a seed sorting station. The children could design their own bouquet of silk flowers in styrofoam.
It was a fun extension to our field trip.
